Teaching

“I believe in teaching to the room I am in, adapting my approach to suit the unique energy and needs of each class. I enjoy meeting my students where they are and I work to show them they can always go further and do more. Through a combination of thoughtful imagery, clear descriptions, and musically-driven combinations, I aim to create an environment where my students feel supported in their journey of growth. The music is the guiding force for me in class and our bodies need to be encouraged and allowed to explore and discover!”

-— Deborah Wingert

“Deborah Wingert is one of my favorite ballet teachers of all time. She always has a way to bring in the proper mixture of elements for the room and the students in front of her. She focuses on technique, artistry, musicality, texture, alignment, clarity, and more all while helping the dancers learn more about their own humanity. I walked out of every class stronger and brighter than I was before.”

Michelle Thompson Ulerich (Choreographer, Dance teacher Purchase)

“As a pianist, working with Debbie has always been a true collaboration. Playing for many ballet companies and a wide variety of teaching styles, she is one that really stands out for me. Her musicality and dance is as one and she carries that into the room. Her sense of music, rhythms and tempo is secure yet free. Her teaching is always intentional and purposeful.”

Renee Ong (Pianist)

“Miss Debbie has shared her passion and joy of ballet with my daughter for the past 9 years. My daughter not only grew as a dancer in her technique and artistry but as a person being instilled with confidence, compassion and respect. Ms. D creates a classroom environment that allows for young dancers to see their potential and reach for it. As a parent I truly valued the time she spent with my dancer focusing on all aspects of her dance training.”
